Raleigh police asked for the public's help to find the driver who fled after hitting a Wakefield High student walking to school Tuesday morning.

Police said a red sedan made a right turn and struck Dasia Dione Cobb, 17, as she crossed Wakefield Pines Drive around 7 a.m. Cobb was in a crosswalk that goes to Wakefield High, according to the wreck report.

She was treated for injuries at WakeMed.

Witnesses told police that an older white woman was driving the red sedan and a brown dog was in the passenger seat.

Anyone with information that might help identify the vehicle or its driver is asked to call Raleigh Crime Stoppers at 919-834-4357. Callers to Crime Stoppers never have to identify themselves and are eligible for a cash reward for information that solves certain felony cases.
