Driver shot, killed in Rocky Mount

A Rocky Mount man was shot and killed late Wednesday as he drove his car on Cokey Road, police said.

Clayton Jerrell Epps, 22, was driving his 2000 Mitsubishi Eclipse in the 800 block of Cokey Road shortly after 11 p.m. when someone fired multiple gunshots at the car, police said.

Epps lost control of the car after being shot and crashed into some trees, police said. He died at Vidant Medical Center in Greenville.
