Two people are hurt, including a state trooper, after a chase reaching up to 150 miles per hour. Even though the chase ended in a four-vehicle crash, the driver still managed to get away.
The high-speed chase ended in the heart of Spring Lake just after dinner time. Troopers say the suspect was driving a stolen white Dodge Challenger as he raced through two counties, slamming into two other cars before abandoning his car and running into the woods behind a Truist bank.

The chase began around 7:29 p.m. on Monday evening after a state trooper attempted to stop a driver for speeding and reckless driving on N.C. Highway 87 in Harnett County. Troopers chased the driver on N.C. Highway 24 into Cumberland County.
Troopers tried to use a device to deflate the tires of the Charger, but that did not work, and one trooper was injured in the process.
The chase ended when the suspect crashed at the intersection of McKenzie Road and N.C. 24 in Spring Lake. Four cars were involved in the crash. Drivers of two of those cars were taken to the hospital, and other people had minor injuries from the crash.
The suspect driver ran away and has not been found. Troopers said they searched the area for the driver of the Challenger with a helicopter and dogs but were unable to find anyone.
