Two serious crashes in Wake County may be weather-related

A tractor trailer overturned Monday on Interstate 40 in Garner.

The crash occurred before 5 a.m. in the eastbound lanes of I-40 near Exit 306 for U.S. Highway 70 and White Oak shopping center. The tractor trailer was on its side.

The ramp to US-70 was closed until 8 a.m.

According to the Garner Police Department, the driver may have swerved to avoid hitting an animal in the roadway. The driver was transported to WakeMed, but the severity of his injuries was unknown.

Another crash occurred before 4:30 a.m. at New Hope Road and Memory Lane in Raleigh. Officials believe a driver ran off the road and hit a tree.

The condition of the driver and the cause of the crash were not provided.
