Driver Dies in 1-Vehicle Johnston Accident

A Newton Grove man died Sunday morning in a one-car accident on Mill Creek Church Road near Britt Road in Johnston County, state troopers said.

Jacob Bernard Sanders, 32, was alone in his car when it went off the right side of the road, he apparently over-corrected, and the car crossed the centerline and overturned in a ditch on the left side, Trooper Marlon Williams said.

It appeared that Sanders' car had been traveling well over the 55 mph speed limit for the road, Williams said.

Troopers found Sanders at the scene. They were called shortly before 5 a.m.
