Driver dead after shooting and fiery car crash

According to the Warren County Sheriff's Office, deputies, along with State Highway Patrol and the Drewry and Norlina Fire Departments, responded to the 400 block of Manson-Drewry Road and the I-85 northbound exit. When they arrived, they found a vehicle fully engulfed in flames. Upon further investigation, authorities discovered the vehicle appeared to be involved in a shooting.

A driver died on Friday after their car burst into flames after a shooting in Warren County.

According to the Warren County Sheriff’s Office, deputies, along with State Highway Patrol and the Drewry and Norlina Fire Departments, responded to the 400 block of Manson-Drewry Road and the I-85 northbound exit.

When they arrived, they found a vehicle fully engulfed in flames. Upon further investigation, authorities discovered the vehicle appeared to be involved in a shooting.

Authorities did not say if the shooting directly caused the vehicle fire.

Authorities said the driver died at the scene and another passenger went to the hospital with injuries from the accident.

EMS took the victim to the Medical Examiner’s Office to determine the driver’s identity and cause of death.

The North Carolina SBI is assisting with the investigation.

Authorities are asking anyone in the area at the time of the accident or information on the accident to call the Warren County Sheriff’s Office at 252-257-3364 Monday through Friday or 252-257-3456 on weekends.
