Crews are working to repair a power pole and power lines damaged on Covered Bridge Road, east of Archer Lodge, on Wednesday morning.

The crash occurred before 5:45 a.m. near Carson's Creek Trail, close to Corinth Holders High School in Wendell.

WRAL News learned a truck slammed into a power pole, snapping it at its base. The front of the truck was badly damaged, but the driver suffered only minor injuries.

No other vehicles were involved.

At 7:30 a.m., a tow truck had arrived at the scene, but crews will work throughout the morning to repair the pole and downed power lines.

Covered Bridge Road is closed in the area. Since the crash was not on a major road, the impact to the community is minimal. A detour guides drivers through a neighborhood.

No power outages were reported in the area.
