A rush-hour crash in Cary involving an Infiniti, another car and an 18-wheeler shut down two lanes of I-40 West near Harrison Avenue for three hours.

Several lanes of Interstate 40 West near Harrison Avenue were shut down during rush hour on Thursday afternoon after a serious crash.

It happened around 4:30 p.m. Thursday. Two of the westbound lanes were closed for three hours.

Video from Sky5 showed the traffic backup.

The North Carolina State Highway Patrol says the driver of a silver Infiniti slammed into another car, causing a collision with an 18-wheeler. The silver Infiniti then went off the road and landed in the woods, hitting several trees.
