Langdon Street reopens in Fayetteville after woman dies in crash

A driver was charged Tuesday in a deadly car crash in Fayetteville.

Christopher Fields, 31, of Fayetteville, was charged with second-degree murder, driving while impaired, reckless driving, and driving on a revoked/suspended license following a crash that killed Rhonda Ashford, 50, Monday evening.

Around 8 p.m., officers with the Fayetteville Police Department responded to a crash in the 400 block of Langdon Street.

Ashford, who was driving one of the cars, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Fields was being held at the Cumberland County Jail on a $250,000 secured bond.

An investigation is underway. Additional information will be released as it becomes available.
