Driver charged after wreck sends dump truck into Harnett County home

A 57-year-old Fuquay-Varina man has been charged for his role in a wreck that caused a dump truck to slam into a house Monday morning near Angier.

According to North Carolina State Highway Patrol officials, Willie R. Woodard was traveling east on Harnett Central School Road at about 9 a.m. when he ran a stop sign at N.C. Highway 210 and struck a 2013 Peterbuilt dump truck with his 1995 Ford Taurus.

The dump truck, which was being operated by Tony Spainhour, 71, of Holly Springs, was traveling south on N.C. 210.

After the collision, Spainhour lost control of his truck and slammed into an unoccupied house. Woodward's Taurus came to a stop in the southbound lane of N.C. 210.

Woodward was taken to WakeMed with non-life-threatening injuries. He was charged with failing to stop for a stop sign, driving with a revoked license and operating a vehicle with a fictitious license plate.

Spainhour was taken to Central Harnett Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
