A 47-year-old driver was banned from operating a motor vehicle Thursday, part of his sentence for a January hit-and-run that seriously injured a skateboarder in Willow Spring.

David Oakley pleaded guilty to crossing the center line, hitting 18-year-old Jeremy Hughes and leaving him along the road. He was sentenced to 12 months house arrest and 24 months supervised probation. The judge asked for a review that could see Oakley lose his license.

Oakley was turned in by a relative, and police targeted him as a suspect shortly after Hughes was found.

Hughes father said the family was satisfied with the sentence, calling it "the best possible outcome for everyone."
