SPCA of Wake County's 2012 Fur Ball event.

The SPCA of Wake County is hosting its 17th Annual Fur Ball this Sunday, Oct. 7, at the Park Alumni Center on Centennial Campus in Raleigh. This black-tie event is the most important fundraiser for homeless pets in the Triangle, as the money raised will benefit community strategies that save animals in need.

There will be an auction featuring items such as original artwork, vacations and autographed memorabilia. One of the prizes is a photoshoot by WRAL-TV reporter Tara Lynn in conjunction with a local pet magazine. The winner will have their dog featured on the cover of the magazine and will get a free photoshoot with In Between the Blinks Photography. An online preview is now available, and you can bid ahead of time on most items.

WRAL-TV anchor Gerald Owens will emcee the live auction at the ball, while Lynn will emcee the silent auction.

Tickets are $125 per person and can be purchased online. If you can't attend but still want to help, you can be a "kickstart donor" by making a donation. Kickstart donors will have their names featured in a slideshow at the Fur Ball.
