Beanstalk, the children's consignment store in Durham, will be holding its quarterly sidewalk sale this Friday, Jan. 29, to Sunday, Jan. 31.

The event will feature thousands of children's items that are marked at 50 cents and $1. You'll find some items for the winter, but most of the gently used clothing is for the spring and summer seasons, Beth Pendola, who owns the store with her daughter, tells me. "Shoppers should bundle up as these bargain items will be located outside on our sidewalk," she tells me.

The sale items will be marked with a special stamp to differentiate them from the shop's regular inventory inside, which includes more clothing, along with toys, shoes, books, furniture and other items at discount prices.

The 15,000-square-foot store opened in 2018 and is at 3400 Westgate Dr. Durham. There is plenty of room for social distancing, Pendola tells me. Masks also are required.

"We pride ourselves on offering several simple options to help even the busiest parents recycle their gently used children’s clothing and find new bargains for their kids…because they grow so fast," she tells me.

Check Beanstalk's website for more information about the shop and how to consignment items. The shop, which is open daily, is open this weekend from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Friday and Saturday, and 1 p.m. to 5 p.m., Sunday.
