The season has come to an end for the Carolina Hurricanes. They hoped to win Game 5 in the second round of the Stanley Cup Playoffs on Tuesday night, but the team lost to the Tampa Bay Lightning 2-0.

Fans hoped playing in front of a home crowd would give the Hurricanes a needed boost to win.

"We've just got to stay disciplined. It's the power play. We give up too many penalties. Tampa – can't give a team like that too many power plays," said fan Byron Morton.

Candace Brooks said she was thankful for the experience after winning tickets from Carolina's Highest Puck Contest on WRAL-FM Mix 101.5.

"I pulled out this morning, at the end of the road, and all of a sudden, I heard it," said Brooks. "I said, 'I'm just going to text and see what happens.'"

People entered by texting the keywords “Canes” or “Stormy.” Then a hockey puck was dropped from a helicopter high above the Triangle, and the side the puck landed on determined a random winner.

That winner was Westbrook.

"I was like, 'Dear God, please let it be me.' My phone rang, and I'm like, 'Oh, my goodness," she described.

Morton said he's able to find the silver lining from Tuesday's game, despite the tough loss.

"It was electric. You're not used to that. [It] feels good to have all the fans back. We'll be back next year," said Morton.
