A state trooper and deputy performed CPR on a baby they helped deliver Sunday morning along a Martin County highway.

Authorities were called to U.S. 64 in the area of Tar Landing Road to help a woman in labor around 8:10 a.m.

While Deputy Cole Murphy directed traffic, Deputy Clay Jannise and Trooper Skye Stone helped with the delivery.

After the baby was born, Jannise and Stone immediately performed life-saving efforts, including CPR.

Deputies say once Jamesville EMS arrived, they took over the care of the mother and newborn.
