Woman charged with working as dental hygienist without license, deputies say

Authorities in Davidson County on Monday arrested a woman they say was working as a dental hygienist without being properly licensed.

According to the Davidson County Sheriff’s Office, detectives with the sheriff’s office were assisting investigators with the North Carolina State Board of Dental Examiners with an investigation at My DentaVille Cosmetics in Lexington.

During the investigation, detectives discovered that 40-year-old Tasha Flaherty was operating as a dental hygienist without being licensed by the state. Investigators said she falsely represented herself to get a job and continue working as a dental hygienist.

Deputies arrested Flaherty and charged her with felony practicing without a license.

Flaherty is due in court on May 22.

Deputies said the investigation is ongoing and more charges are possible.
