Death investigation underway for Fort Bragg soldier

A paratrooper assigned to the 82nd Airborne Division died in his barracks room at Fort Bragg on Saturday.

Specialist Carlton L. Butler, a 22-year-old infantryman, was assigned to Bravo Company, 2nd Battalion, 505th Parachute Infantry Regiment, 3rd Brigade Combat Team, 82nd Airborne Division.

A paratrooper at Fort Bragg died in his barracks room on Saturday.

"Carlton was an energetic and motivated Paratrooper," said Lieutenant Colonel Graham R. White, commander of 2nd Battalion, 505th PIR. "Our thoughts now turn to his family and fellow paratroopers."

Butler, of North Miami Beach, Florida, joined the Army in June 2014 and was assigned to the 82nd Airborne Division in December of that year.
