Daughter: Woman, boyfriend dead in murder-suicide in Johnston County
A woman told deputies that her mother and mother's boyfriend died in a murder-suicide that developed from an argument Wednesday night in Johnston County.
Johnston County Sheriff's Office deputies were called to a home on McGee Road in Benson around 10 p.m.
When they arrived, they were met by a 22-year-old woman who lived in the home. She said she heard her mother, Ma Teresa Meraz-Cruz, arguing with Miguel Angel Ventura, who was Meraz-Cruz's boyfriend. The woman said she then heard two gunshots. She then left the home and called 911.
Deputies discovered her mother, 52-year-old Meraz-Cruz, suffering from a gunshot wound. She was taken to the hospital, where she died from her injuries.
Ventura, 38, was found dead as a result of a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
The Johnston County Sheriff's Office has determined there is no on-going threat to anyone else.
