Regulars of Cary's Baker's Dozen Donut Shop have rallied to support the small business after it was vandalized earlier this week.

Shop owner Sindy Rith said she understands that the person responsible was suffering a mental health crisis, and she does not blame him for his actions.

Rith told WRAL News that a regular male customer came in Monday afternoon, grabbed a donut, threw it in her face and, when she chased him out, grabbed a trash can and smashed three windows of the shop.

"I hope he gets help," she said. "I don’t think he had an intention of hurting me.”

Cary police charged Marvin Alberto Rosas Pulido with assault with a deadly weapon, injury to real property and injury to personal property. He also faces charges of assault on a government employee for punching the officer who tried to arrest him.

Insurance will cover the damage, Rith said, and customers have offered to help with the costs.

The property owner told WRAL News that Rosas Pulido did some damage to at least two other businesses in the plaza, a tobacco shop and a convenience store.
