Cumberland County school administrator cited for assault

Carmen McFarlin, an assistant principal at Reid Ross Classical School in Cumberland County, was cited over the weekend with misdemeanor assault.

McFarlin, who was booked under the name Carmen Nichols, was charged Saturday night just before midnight.

She has been an employee of the district since 2001 and was promoted from teacher to assistant principal in 2014. Her record with the school shows no previous disciplinary actions.

According to Cumberland County Schools' Associate Superintendent of Human Resources Ruben Reyes, the district is aware of the situation and it is being investigated.
