Capital Boulevard bridge project continues

Crews on Thursday opened all but one lane on Peace Street between the southbound ramp off Capital Boulevard and West Street.

The segment of Peace Street has been closed as part of the Capital Boulevard Bridge replacement project, and the news is good for Raleigh commuters.

The initial lane closures, which put traffic into a single lane in each direction, went into place last September so crews could install a new culvert under the roadway in advance of the new bridge over Peace Street.

According to officials, crews will now only need to install lane closures at nighttime to complete any remaining work on the roadway.

Bridge construction off of Capital Boulevard isn't done yet, as the Wade Avenue Bridge is also being replaced.
