Potential flash flooding from Tropical Storm Michael is already a concern in the Triangle, especially at Raleigh's Crabtree Valley Mall, a notoriously flood-prone area.
Officials with Crabtree Valley Mall say they still anticipate opening at 10 a.m. Thursday, but that they are closely watching the forecast.
The mall has been no stranger to rising water in the past from the nearby Crabtree creek. To prepare for heavy rain and strong winds, crews spent time overnight driving mall vehicles to higher ground and removing retail banners around the property.
The lower level parking deck is also closed as a precaution.
Anyone who plans to visit Crabtree Valley Mall on Thursday is encouraged to use the second- and third-level parking decks.
Officials said the mall does have flood gates and if they are used, the mall will close.
