Couple dies in Beaufort house fire Saturday night
Authorities do not believe foul play is involved.
A couple died in a house fire Saturday in Chocowinity.
According to the Beaufort County Sheriff's Office, 76-year-old Franklin Meeks and 73-year-old Gail Meeks died in a structure fire on Riverview Drive.
Authorities said it took firefighters three hours to extinguish the fire.
Authorities with the Beaufort County Sheriff's Office, Beaufort County Fire Marshall's Office, The North Carolina SBI and the State Fire Marshall's Office could not determine the exact cause of the fire, but did say foul play was not involved.
