On Tuesday, Wake County Board of Education members will discuss plans to begin COVID-19 testing inside public schools.

The district expects testing to begin at schools with active or potential clusters sometime between late November and early January.

Mako Medical, a state vendor, would conduct the tests on a rolling basis.

The board will also discuss how to handle a federal mandate to test unvaccinated employees, which could begin early next year. Under President Joe Biden's COVID-19 action plan, workplaces with more than 100 workers must test the unvaccinated weekly.
