Wake County inviting residents to 'Ask the Doc' about COVID-19 vaccines for children in livestream series
Next week the FDA is expected to consider the approval of COVID-19 vaccines for children.
Within hours of formal approval, doses will begin shipping to providers across the country, along with smaller needles necessary for injecting young kids, and within days those doses will be ready to go into the arms of kids on a wide scale.
Thursday night, Wake County is holding a special edition of it's "Ask the Doc" livestream focusing on COVID-19 and children. Wake County is inviting all parents to join.
A panel of local pediatricians and health experts moderated by Dr. Michele Benoit-Wilson, obstetrician/gynecologist with WakeMed Health & Hospitals, will answer questions from viewers on Facebook and Youtube live.
Panelists include:
- Dr. Jamila Fletcher, Raleigh Children and Adolescents Medicine, UNC Health
- Pediatrician: Dr. Colin James Orr, Pediatric Infectious Diseases Specialist and Medical Director for Pediatric Infectious Diseases Specialist
- Dr. Ibukun Akinboyo, Pediatric Infectious Diseases Specialist and Medical Director for Pediatric Infection Prevention and Hospital Epidemiology, Duke Health
- Dr. Nicole Mushonga, Associate Medical Director and Epidemiology Program Director, Wake County Government
The stream is set to begin at 7 p.m. Thursday night.
