Seven COVID testing sites in Wake County will remain open 'indefinitely'
After Mako Medical's website indicated that some of Wake County's newest COVID-19 testing sites would close, planners have announced they will remain open at least through the month of February.
Mako first opened the test site at the Word of God Church site on Rock Quarry Road before Christmas to answer growing demand for testing. Over time, six other locations were added.
On Friday, a Mako spokesperson told WRAL News that all sites would remain open as long as the need exists, and the company will open an additional site at Springfield Baptist Church in Raleigh. Mako had originally planned to close the sites at the end of January.
Appointments are available at Wake County Public Health's five testing sites, in addition to other no-cost options offered across the state.
Here is a list of options:
- Word of God Church, 3000 Rock Quarry Road, Raleigh
- Five County Stadium, 1501 N.C. Highway 39, Zebulon
- WakeMed Soccer Park, 101 Soccer Park Drive, Cary
- Apex Community Park, 2200 Laura Duncan Road, Cary
- Highland Baptist Church, 8524 Crowder Road, Raleigh
- PNC Arena, 1400 Edwards Mill Road, Raleigh
- Springfield Baptist Church, 4309 Auburn Knightdale Road, Raleigh
Pre-registration is required at all the above sites.
Radeas Labs runs two testing sites across the county. Neither requires pre-registration or appointments. Those locations are:
- Summit Church, at 3901 Capital Hills Drive in Raleigh. Tests are available from 3:30 to 7:30 p.m., Monday through Friday.
- Radeas Laboratories, at 907 Gateway Commons Circle. Tests are available 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., Monday through Saturday.
