Triangle companies in need of holiday workers

Two Triangle job fairs on Wednesday highlight the challenge all retailers are facing this year in their search for holiday help.

Together, Bass Pro Shops in Cary and Cabela's in Garner are hoping to hire about 100 workers before the holidays.

Hourly rates start at $10.57 depending on experience and position.

Analysts predict a challenging holiday shopping season due to both product and staffing shortages from the pandemic. Shoppers are being advised to begin shopping earlier, and stores need to hire seasonal workers earlier as well.

Economist Dr. Mike Walden said companies will likely be competing for seasonal help and paying more for it.

Walk-in interviews will be held between 10 a.m. and 7 p.m. Wednesday at Cabela's and Bass Pro Shops. You can also apply online.

A spokesperson for the companies said they’re offering holiday and vacation pay as well as insurance programs for certain positions.

The U.S. Department of Labor is reporting a record 4.3 million American workers quit their jobs in August.
