Animals at the North Carolina Zoo are beginning to receive their COVID-19 vaccines.
The zoo in Asheboro posted photos to Twitter on Friday, saying primates at the zoo are actually stretching their furry arms toward zookeepers for vaccination.
"The great relationship between our animals and keepers is evident by how they voluntarily present their arms for the injection," the post read.
The zoo will vaccinate primates first, followed by all big cats, bears, wolves and otters.
Animals are also at risk for COVID-19 and, like humans, each will get two doses of the vaccine.
In April, a doctor told WRAL News that the animals are getting a specially formulated vaccine from a company that produces medicine for animals.
