Searching for affordable high-speed internet so your kids can learn from home? Here's a resource

While high-speed interact access is considered as essential as running water and electricity for many of us, not all North Carolina families are lucky to have access to this increasingly important service. This can be a particular burden for families with school-aged kids, who would like to access distance learning resources, but can't from home.

The coronavirus pandemic has shut down schools and workplaces across the state and country and around the world. And that means many adults are working from home — and kids are trying to learn from home.

While high-speed interact access is considered as essential as running water and electricity for many of us, not all North Carolina families are lucky to have access to this increasingly important service. This can be a particular burden for families with school-aged kids, who would like to access distance learning resources, but can't from home.

So I wanted to share this great resource from the North Carolina Department of Information Technology's broadband infrastructure office.

The site lists new and existing free or affordable service offerings from vendors in the Triangle and across the state. Some companies, including Charter, are offering free access for families with children.

To find out what's offered in your neighborhood, all you need to do is head over to the website and key in your home address.

Hat tip to @NCVirtual on Twitter for sharing this resource.
