Costco only allowing 2 people in stores per membership
Costco will only allow 2 people to enter the store per membership card starting April 3. The new rule is being implemented to make it easier to social distance during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Their website indicates: "Effective Friday, April 3, Costco will allow no more than two people to enter the warehouse with each membership card. This temporary change is for your safety and the safety of our employees and other members, and to further assist with our social distancing efforts. Thank you for your cooperation and understanding."
This is a welcome change for many shoppers trying to stay safe while buying essentials.
On Monica Laliberte's Facebook page, one reader wrote in response to the new limits, "It's about time. I see families walking around, Mom, Dad, babies in arms, children and Grandma....they ALL do not have to be out, only need one or two adult members to go into the stores."
Another reader shared, "Good!! I hope Sams Club does the same! It was ridiculous today with large groups blocking the aisles. Also people “holding spots” in line in the parking lot needs to stop. People who wait in line early to be the first group to enter, get bumped down and have to wait when others cut in line when the doors open."
In addition to the limits on how many people can enter the store per membership, Costco has also changed their operating hours, offered special hours for senior shopping, placed quantity limits of the number of popular products you can buy and stopped accepting returns on specific products.
Per their website:
"U.S. Costco warehouses will close at 6:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. U.S. Costco gas stations will open at 7:30 a.m. daily, and close at 7 p.m. on weekdays and 6:30 p.m. on weekends.
Until further notice, Costco warehouses will open from 8 to 9 a.m. Tuesday through Thursday for members ages 60 and older, and for those with physical impairments. The pharmacy will be open, but the Costco Food Court will be closed during these hours. Find a Costco warehouse near you."
