Clayton man charged in screwdriver robbery

A Clayton man serving probation for common-law robbery has been charged with three counts of armed robbery by Raleigh police.

Kooely Antoine Horne, 34, of 109 Wimbledon Court, was also charged with two counts of obtaining property by false pretenses, three counts of failure to appear in court and a probation violation.

Horne threatened a woman with a screwdriver and stole $10 from her on Aug. 9, according to an arrest warrant.

He was placed in the Wake County jail under a $602,000 secured bond. He was scheduled to appear in court Monday.

State Department of Correction records show that Horne moved to North Carolina after being convicted of felony burglary and obtaining a contraband substance by fraud in Connecticut in 2003.

Since then, he was convicted for misdemeanor breaking-and-entering and larceny in September 2009 and of common-law robbery this past July. He was given probation for those offenses.
