A misdemeanor child abuse charge was dismissed against a woman who worked at a Franklin County day care that closed last month amid a state probe into allegations of child abuse.

WRAL News reported on Aug. 8 that the owners of Leaps and Bounds Early Learning Center in Louisburg closed the facility prior to the state revoking their license.

A July 18 letter to co-owner Diane Lee from the North Carolina Division of Child Development and Early Education cited a March 2012 complaint against Cynthia Brubaker, 42, of Zebulon, who was accused of improperly disciplining an 18-month-old child.

A District Court judge, however, dismissed the charge on June 4, according to court documents.

Brubaker is also licensed and qualified to provide child care, according to the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services' Criminal Record Check Unit.
