Improv teams from Chicago and Raleigh will showcase their talents during the 6th annual Chicago-Raleigh Improv Festival this weekend.

ComedyWorx in Raleigh will host the event, which was designed to bring a taste of "Chicago-style" or long-form improv to the Triangle. Long-form improv is more scene-based with teams of five or six people creating an entirely improvised show based on one word or phrase the audience provides. Short-form improv consists of games, like those seen on "Whose Line is it Anyway?"

Note: ComedyWorx recommends that the audience for long-form improv shows be 18 years old and above.

There will be two shows each Friday and Saturday nights. Shows start at 8 p.m. and 10 p.m.

Tickets for the event, also known as the i3 Festival, are $12 for a single show, $20 for a nightly pass and $35 for a weekend pass. They can be purchased online or by calling ComedyWorx at 919-892-0822.

I actually took an Intro to Improv course at ComedyWorx. Short-form improv is difficult, so the long-form folks really have to be on their game to remember everything. Good luck to the ComedyWorx crew!
