Hear it from Hutch: Chatham County Line

Not going to lie, I was a little oblivious as to how big Chatham County Line is.

And then, after hangin’ out in John Teer’s (mandolin, fiddle and vocals) house for a short time… I had a sense I just caught a peek into the world of something bigger than I had imagined.

CCL has played a self-proclaimed 15 overseas music festivals, and has shared the stage with the likes of Bon Iver and the Raconteurs. For that alone they deserve some respect, but considering their ridiculous talent, they belong right beside those acts.

CCL’s next album, Wildwood, brought to you by Yep Roc, is due out July 13th.

The feature song, Wildwood, leads off the album and is what the band chose to play for this video blog. It’s catchy, and every time someone walked by the edit bay I was working in, they would stop and say the same thing: “That’s beautiful.”

I had a hard time deciding whether I should use the album recording or what my microphone picked up in the house. For once, it actually sounded good on tape!

I also appreciate the fact that you might catch these guys setting up on the front porch of one of their Raleigh homes and just playing a few songs for their neighbors. They are welcoming, and their music suggests the same.

I’m sure most music lovers in this area have already heard about Chatham County Line, but if you know anyone who hasn’t, send them the link to this video blog and get them on board. Local talent like this… Needs to be supported!

Thanks CCL! I had a blast putting this together!
