A conductor with ties to Charlotte will have an important role at the royal wedding this month.

According to the Charlotte Symphony, director Christopher Warren-Green was asked to conduct the orchestra when Prince Harry and Meghan Markle tie the knot on May 19.

The ceremony is scheduled to be held at St. George’s Chapel and will feature an orchestra of musicians from the BBC National Orchestra of Wales, the English Chamber Orchestra and the Philharmonia.

According to a biography on the Charlotte Symphony website, Warren-Green, who also serves as the principal conductor of the London Chamber Orchestra, has been invited to conduct for the Royal Family on multiple occasions over the past 30 years.

He led the London Chamber Orchestra at the wedding of Prince William and Kate Middleton in 2011 and conducted the service of dedication for the marriage of the Duke and Duchess of Cornwall in 2005. Warren-Green also conducted orchestras for Queen Elizabeth’s 80th and 90th birthday celebrations.
