Doorbell cam: Driver crashes into parked cars in family's driveway

A doorbell camera in Lee County caught an alleged drunk driver crashing into two parked cars. The 39-year-old driver now faces charges.

The video shows Daniel Arellano speeding through the neighborhood before crashing into Brian Ford's truck, totaling it.

The car then hit Natalie Ford's vehicle before spinning onto the sidewalk.

"That sound still haunts me," Natalie Ford said.

The jarring sound was heard outside Brian and Natalie Ford's home last Friday night.

"It was somewhat of a surreal moment after that," said Brian Ford.

Both were sleeping when a man accused of driving impaired crashed into their cars.

The impact ruined the bed of Brian's Ford F-150 truck and knocked Natalie's Honda CR-V within inches of their doorstep.

"It's not right at all and we didn't do anything," Brian said.

Now a rental truck is the couple's only source of transportation as they sort through the headache of filing insurance claims.

"Right now, the struggle is me trying to get a rental from his insurance company," Natalie said. "Until then, we're down to one rental, and he's stuck being my chauffeur."

Brian Ford said this is a very frustrating situation.

"The driver took out my truck completely, then hit my wife's car and ended up on our sidewalk," Brian said.

Arellano was released from Lee County Jail and faces a DWI charge.

He is due back in court on May 2.

This is not his first DWI charge; he was charged in Gaston County in 2014.
