The event runs until 5:30 p.m. at 3434 Kildaire Farm Road in Cary.

Caterpillar representatives said they have a couple dozen jobs open at their Cary, Clayton and Sanford facilities – full-time, part-time, entry-level and experienced. Job openings include:

  • Manufacturing/production
  • Marketing
  • Accounting
  • Purchasing
  • Engineering
  • Supply chain and more

The event is free and open to the public. Those interested can register online or apply for jobs on Caterpillar's website.

About 100 people were lined up Tuesday morning, hoping to land a job. Pamela Mason, a grandmother of six, said she returned to school to make herself more marketable.

"I've been putting out resumes each and every day online. I know something is going to come to play with me, and I know it is. I just have it in my spirit," she said.
