Cary mother charged with murder was at a gambling parlor before her daughters' deaths
A day after a Cary mother was denied bond on murder charges of her two daughters, WRAL News has learned of the woman’s whereabouts in the events leading up to the alleged crime.
Launice Battle's father told WRAL News that his daughter may have been at a gambling parlor and left her two children in the car. He called it a “casino” while speaking with WRAL News outside of court for Battle’s first appearance.
An employee at Vegas Style Sweepstakes and Entertainment at 5540 Atlantic Springs Road said Battle was at the venue Saturday, which is the same day she’s accused of killing her daughters.
The employee did not want to speak with WRAL News on camera. However, she said she was working Saturday when Battle came in to gamble from 1:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Saturday. She said Battle was a regular customer. The employee told WRAL News “she was in and out the whole time she was here.”
The Vegas Style Sweepstakes employee said there was no commotion when Battle left.
Raleigh police were called to Duke Raleigh Hospital about two hours later, around 9:40 p.m. Saturday after 2-year-old Trinity Milbourne and 3-year-old Amora Milbourne were pronounced dead.
The employee says everyone at the parlor is shocked.
At the Wake County Courthouse on Tuesday, the arrest warrants, charging Battle with murder, were the only information made public about the investigation.
WRAL News also asked Wake County Social Services if there were ever any abuse or neglect reports involving Battle and has not heard back as of Tuesday evening.
Cary police said they had no record of calls for child abuse or neglect to her address.
Battle is due back in court on Sept. 19.
