Something new is coming to Carowinds next year in what the theme park is calling the “biggest announcement” in the park’s history.

Using the hashtag “Granny’s Epic Secret,” Carowinds tweeted on Aug. 6 that the announcement regarding an attraction set to open sometime in 2019 would be made on Aug. 30.

“Sometimes gossip can be downright intoxicatin’. Find out what all the fuss is about when we reveal our big sssecret!” the tweet says.

The image of a snake in the photo accompanying the tweet, and the use of the letter “S” multiple times in the word secret, had some people in the comments speculating that the attraction would be themed around some type of snake.

In a second tweet using the “Granny’s Epic Secret” hashtag, the theme park provides a teaser video with a phony recipe that includes 3,255 hand-picked berries, 530 teaspoons of sugar and two spoonfuls of granny’s secret ingredient.

“Granny’s mixin’ up something downright intoxicatin’ in her copper pot,” the tweet says.

Many in the comments speculated that the numbers in the recipe correlate to stats for a potential ride. Others believe the instruction to “completely stir the mixture around the pot” hints that the attraction will spin.

According to the United States Patent and Trademark Office, Cedar Fair, L.P., which owns Carowinds, registered a trademark for the name "Copper Strike" on April 9, 2019. This name would fit both the allusion to a snake and the mention of copper in the tweets.

The Carowinds website shows that the park will be closed on Aug. 30 and a comment from Lisa Stryker, whose Twitter profile lists her as the communications director for the park, said the event will not be open to the public, but will be streamed live online.
