The annual Carnival for Kids runs this week in Wake Forest, featuring rides, food and other attractions.
The annual event supports the Wake Forest Police Department's D.A.R.E. program. The program, which you probably remember from your own school days, teaches kids about the dangers of drugs. The carnival helps the department raise money to provide graduating students with a certificate, a T-shirt and other awards. Kids in grades five to eight can get involved in the program. Courses also are taught to kids in kindergarten through fourth grade.
The carnival is open 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. Tuesday through Friday; 1 p.m. to 10 p.m. Saturday; and 1 p.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday. You'll find it at the Wake Forest Home Depot on 11915 Retail Dr.
