Car strikes tree in southern Wake County

At least one person was killed when a passenger car struck a tree along Avent Ferry Road west of Holly Springs, state troopers said.

The wreck occurred at Avent Ferry Road, just north of New Hill Holleman Road, around 6:30 a.m. Only one vehicle was involved.
