A car fire caused heavy delays on Interstate 87 during the Friday morning commute.
The fire, which occurred near Exit 4 for New Hope Road, closed two southbound lanes on I-87, stalling traffic in the area.
A viewer sent WRAL News a photo from the crash showing thick smoke.
At 7 a.m., the fire was out, and one lane had reopened.
The road is expected to reopen by 9 a.m.
Drivers should try to avoid the area.
