Car becomes pinned under tractor trailer, driver injured in crash near Kenly

A crash involving a tractor trailer and another vehicle closed N.C. Highway 222 near Kenly early Monday morning.

The crash occurred before 5 a.m. near Bridgers Road in eastern Johnston County, east of Kenly.

Crews at the scene said the 18-wheeler pulled into the path of a car that was traveling east. The car became pinned under the truck.

The driver was taken to the hospital with serious injuries, officials said.

Possible traffic charges are pending, but officials do not believe alcohol was involved.
