Two people suffered burns when a camper exploded in Gaston County on Monday.

The explosion happened on Ferrell Grove Avenue near Hickory Grove Road north of McAdenville just after 10 p.m., according to a Gaston County spokesperson. The fire caused by the explosion was quickly put out.

Two people were injured in the explosion, with one victim suffering second and third-degree burns to the head and face. Both were taken to the hospital for further treatment.

The names of the victims were not released. Officials have not determined the cause of the explosion at this time.
