Alfred Williams & Company moving HQ to downtown Raleigh

The 143-year-old company, which sells office furniture and provides a variety of services to businesses, will occupy a two-story building on South Salisbury Street.

The Alfred Williams & Company will move its headquarters to downtown Raleigh, bri9nging with it some 50 jobs.

A privately held, family-owned company that is 143 years old, will occupy a two-story building at 410 S. Salisbury St. the structure, which was acquired in December, is being extensively remodeled inside and out.

The move is expected to be completed by July.

Currently located on Capital Blvd., Alfred Williams & Company was founded in downtown as a bookseller. It now operates in eight cities across three states.

“We never strayed far, but this feels like we’re returning to our roots,” said Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Blount Williams. He represents the fifth generation of the Williams family to operate the business.

The Williams company will occupy the 15,000 square feet of the second floor. It hopes to lease the first floor to other companies.
