Shearon Harris license renewed
Progress Energy, the operator of the plant, submitted a request to renew the license, which was to expire in October 2026. The renewal extends the license until Oct. 24, 2046.
The Nuclear Regulatory Commission has renewed the license for Shearon Harris Nuclear Power Plant.

The NRC inspected the plant and reviewed its environmental impact and safety systems before granting the renewal.
