Brothers injured in Johnston County wreck
Two teenaged brothers were injured Friday evening after their pickup truck ran off the road and through a creek before overturning.
State troopers said that a 17-year-old was driving and his 13-year-old brother was a passenger in a pickup truck on Bizzell Grove Church Road, near a bridge at Rains Crossroads Road, around 8:40 p.m.
The pickup ran off the roadway in a curve, and the driver over-corrected several times before the truck flipped over and slid down a 75-foot embankment, troopers said. The truck ran through a shallow creek and partway up another embankment before coming to a stop.
Troopers said they found the 13-year-old alongside the road near the bridge and the 17-year-old lying on rocks at the edge of the creek bank.
The 17-year-old brother was taken to WakeMed in Raleigh. His injuries weren't believed to be life-threatening. An update on his condition wasn't available.
The younger brother was treated and released from Johnston County Medical Center in Smithfield.
Troopers said the 17-year-old was not wearing a seat belt, but the 13-year-old was wearing one.
