Brother accidentally shot while hunting

A man whom authorities say was accidentally shot in the head while hunting in Halifax County around 5 p.m. Wednesday is expected to be OK.

Master Office Patrick Browne, with the North Carolina Wildlife Resources Commission, said Thursday that Roger Warren, 31, was sitting in a car on U.S. Highway 301 when his brother, Eric Warren, 28, used the roof of the car to steady a shot at a deer.

Investigators said the bullet went through the roof and that a piece of it struck Roger Warren behind the ear and shoulder.

He was taken to Pitt Memorial Hospital in Greenville for treatment and could be released Thursday, Browne said.

Eric Warren was charged with negligent hunting with a firearm and hunting without a license, both misdemeanors.
