A Brinks armored truck used to transport money crashed Wednesday on N.C. Highway 24/27 in Cabarrus County.

The crash occurred before 1 p.m. in the westbound lanes in the Midland area, east of Bethel School Road.

Coins and fuel spilled on the road, causing the North Carolina Department of Transportation to close all but one lane.

Midland Fire and Rescue posted photos on Twitter, saying a sand truck will be used to help clean up the spill.

Photos showed the white Brinks truck off the road and in the woodline. Pieces of the truck covered the roadway.

No paper bills spilled, only coins, officials said.

Brinks Armed Security representatives responded to the scene and will use a specialized vacuum to get every coin off the ground.

The Carabbus County Sheriff's Office also responded.
