The popular BrickUniverse LEGO Convention is returning to Raleigh after a more than year-long hiatus because of the pandemic. Tickets are on sale for the event, slated for Sept. 25 and Sept. 26, starting today.

BrickUniverse, which now travels across the country, started in Raleigh seven years ago. It typically is held in the spring and last took place in March 2020. The event features live LEGO builds, a Building Zone with thousands of LEGO bricks for attendees to build with, a gallery of life-sized LEGO models and more. In a normal year, BrickUniverse sells out. And this year, organizers are limiting the event's capacity, so there's a good chance tickets will sell out even more quickly. Purchasing tickets in advance is highly recommended, according to organizers. They are $15 each.

According to a press release, the featured LEGO artists have spent the last year building new LEGO masterpieces and are looking forward to showing off their new works to attendees. Past fan-favorites who will be returning to display include professional LEGO artists Jonathan Lopes of San Diego, Rocco Buttliere of Chicago, and Lia Chan of Dallas.

Other attractions include:

  • a LEGO Friends Building Area
  • Big Brick Building with LEGO Duplo blocks
  • A shop with LEGO merchandise and goodies
  • a Star Wars Zone with Star Wars-themed bricks for visitors to use

BrickUniverse will take place at the Raleigh Convention Center. Kids 2 and under are free. More information is at the festival's website.

Other locations for the festival this year include New Orleans, St. Louis, Jacksonville, Fla., Oklahoma City and Rochester.
